Sedum spurium 'Dragon's Blood' (Caucasian stonecrop 'Schorbuser Blut', Two-row Stonecrop 'Dragon's Blood')
is a fully hardy perennial evergreen alpine with pink flowers in early Autumn, late Summer and mid Summer. It grows well in direct sun, and prefers medium levels of water. The flowers are stellate shaped. This alpine has all year round interest.Soil
Sedum spurium 'Dragon's Blood' grows in soils ranging from a pH of 6 (acidic ranges from 5.6 to 6) to 7.8 (slightly alkaline ranges from 7.6 to 8). It is adapted to chalk, clay loam, loam, loamy sand, sandy clay loam and sandy loam soils, and prefers medium fertility.
Growth
This is a prostrate plant and has a mat forming growth form, and has an ultimate height of 0.2m / 5.9in and spread of 0.3m / 11.8in. It can take 4-5 years to reach its ultimate height.
Leaves
It has green leaves, but the new growth is red. They are orbicular in shape. The leaf has a crenate margin.
Exposure
The plant is happy in any situation, exposed or sheltered.
Uses
Alpine, attractive foliage, bank and slope, city courtyard garden, rock garden and wall side.
