Two plants found in a field of red flowering Papaver rhoeas of which this is one photograph. Both plants were vigorous and floriferous and the proximity of the two plants seem to indicate a possible recessive genetic trait for this colour. More plants bearing the same colour flowers were found later on during the hike, but they remained few and far between. It would be interesting if not desirable to collect seed from plants showing this specific colour trait and through inter-crossing to fix the trait for garden use.Main colours of subject
